Arsenal end their preseason on Sunday as they take on German club FC Cologne. Last season in the same preseason fixture, it went Arsenal’s way as Gervinho scored a brace on his debut to help the gunners win 2-1. This season Arsenal have added more firepower to their squads with the additions of Lukas Podolski (a former FC cologne player), Oliver Giroud and Santi Cazorla.
All three of them are experienced at club and international level and it would be a huge game for them as they would try and merge in with the other players. It will also be interesting to see who will play where as Podolski and Cazorla can play anywhere across the front line and behind the striker.
This game would be a test for Gunners and they should win easy against the German side who got relegated last season. The fans would get to see Diaby and others back to fitness, the new signings play and Robin Van Persie play his first game this season after announcing that he wants a move out of the Emirates.
The lineup would see youngsters like Gnabry getting a chance to feature in the first team along with experienced players like Mikel Arteta and Thomas Vermaelen. It would be an interesting lineup for sure. It will be the last preseason game before the season kicks off next week when Arsenal play Sunderland for their opening fixture of the EPL.
