Rating the Gunners in their thrilling draw at the Liberty

Arsenal drew 2-2 against Swansea in an exciting tie of the third round of the FA Cup. The Gunners battled it out with the Swans in a thrilling encounter between the two and a draw means the match would be replayed at the Emirates this month.

Here are the ratings from the match:

Szczesny 6.5- Was good when called upon but could have done better with the two goals.

Sagna 6- Seems to be out of form with another not so good performance at the Liberty stadium. The only good thing probably was his header which kept the attack from the corner alive and lead to Arsenal’s first goal.

Mertesacker 6.5- Was troubled by the likes of Graham and Michu but had a good performance.

Koscielny 7- A good performance at the back. Got a good assist. It would be interesting to see which two centre backs does he choose against Man City next Sunday.

Gibbs 8- A great performance defensively and offensively. Added something extra to Arsenal’s attack and scored a fantastic goal with brilliant technique. ‘Who needs Van Persie when you’ve got Gibbs!’

Arteta 7- Calm and composed on the ball and was focal to Arsenal’s domination in possession in the match. Did give some poor balls though which were totally unlike him.

Wilshere 7- Again a good performance by the young English international. Passed and kept possession nicely.

Cazorla 7- Rather quiet in the first half but livelier in the second.

Ramsey 7- A good performance from the Welshman after quite a while as he was up to his task and was actually quite good. Unlucky to be subbed off but you can’t complain as it resulted in the first goal.

Walcott 5.5- Played on the right rather than up front and was anonymous large spells of the game. Did make some runs and his movement was alright. One thing that we learnt from the match that he should not take set pieces with the likes of Arteta, Cazorla and Podolski in the side.

Giroud 7- Added something else in the attack which Arsenal lacked against Southampton last week. Provided a great assist and got on to the end of some crosses. Should have converted at least one of his chances into goals. This would be another interesting thing to see whether Wenger continues with Giroud as the main striker against Man City.

Subs:

Podolski 8- Came on for Ramsey and did what he was sent on for. Score.

It was an interesting tie and it will be more interesting when these two sides meet again on 16th January at the Emirates in the replay.
Next match vs Manchester City.
