So we are heading to the DW stadium looking for a win and to make it 19 points out of the 21 points from 7 games. We had a disappointing draw last week against Fulham and the sad loss to Manchester City in the midweek. Its two different tales for both the teams with Arsenal looking to get into the top four and Wigan are at the wrong end of the table, and need some points to get out of the drop zone. Wigan managed to get 4 points out of the last six matches, and that should have lifted their confidence a bit after going through eight successive defeats. Arsenal on the other hand had a bad start to the season and this week they would look to secure the three points and push for the top four.

Wigan under Martinez is a team that likes to attack and looks like the one to follow in the footsteps of Arsenal and Barcelona, which might very well pave into the hands of Arsenal. Except for the traditional top teams most Premiere League teams would only look to defend against Arsenal, a team that believes only in attacking against any opposition under Wenger, but thats not what Wigan is all about. On the team news for Wigan defender Emmerson Boyce could return to the squad after missing the last two matches through injury and the man to watch out for would be Santos who has had a pretty good season with them.

Who would have thought that it is Wigan coming in to this match with a win and not Arsenal who managed to win five of their last six and had a disappointing week at Fulham last week which ended in a draw. The good news is that we would be seeing Van Persie back in action this week having not played the mid week to make sure he got his well deserved break. Robin van Persie has scored 13 league goals this season, which is more than the entire Wigan team. Our captain has netted 31 Premier League goals in 2011 and needs just three more to equal our legend Henry’s feat of 34 goals made in 2004 but the traget would be the 36 goals scored by Alan Shearer in 1995. Its not going to be easy and he would need to be at his best for this and the remaining matches in the year to break that tally.

With rest given to most of the first team players in the mid week we should be seeing our best team of the season play on Saturday . In  the other team news we wont be seeing Diaby and Rosicky in the team squad after picking up some minor injuries. Its again a frustrating season for Diaby having come back from a major injury last week and it looks like he will continue his honeymoon with injuries this season too.

So we going in with the following team and we don’t see any reason why Wenger shouldn’t start this strong line up against Wigan.

It has been frustrating going to Wigan in the last two seasons and having just been able to get a point of the two seasons but this season we shouldn’t be seeing any of those. The only worry for Arsenal is with their own goals and thats something the Manager wouldn’t want to see this week too.

Wenger in his press conference had to say this:

“our view is that after bad start we are back in the contention to fight for the championship places.. not at the moment for the chaimpionship but the traget is to get back into that position so we have to continue our good run we have at the moment .. we had a disappointing draw on sunday and we want to of course comeback and continue our run.. for the rest it looks like  there is a group  of 7 to  8 teams to fight until the end for the chaimpship with manchester city who are the favorites but its early in the season”

We are going in predicting a 3-1 win for Arsenal and do let us know what your predictions are for the match.
