Arsenal travel to the Veltins Arena in Germany to play Schalke in probably the group decider match. Arsenal were outplayed when Schalke came to the Emirates in the third game of group stages, losing 2-0 to the German side. The Gunners weren’t themselves and so it was on Saturday when they were outclassed by Manchester United.
The fans did have somethings to cheer last week including in the CapitalOne Cup when they came back from behind to complete one of the greatest comebacks at the Madejski Stadium, beating Reading 7-5.
Arsenal are second in the group with six points, one point behind Schalke the group leaders. Arsenal will need to find form and more hard work from them will get them a result and three points would just make the Gunners on the verge of qualifying for the knockout stages in the Champions league.
Vito Mannone would start yet again in goal as Szczesny still continues his recovery. The young Italian keeper had a good game at old Trafford, making some good saves and he showed his quality.
At the back, Sagna would play at right back with Santos at left back despite being criticised by the fans by not being able to defend. The centre backs would be the same from old Trafford with Mertesacker and Vermaelen playing their.
The midfield three would be unchanged as well with Wilshere, Arteta and Cazorla taking the three midfield roles.
Up front, Giroud will probably start as the striker with Podolski down the left. On the right Theo Walcott will probably is the first choice with Ramsey out or perhaps Wenger might look at Arshavin to start. It will be a tricky choice for Wenger considering both of them have done well when they were given their chance.
This is a must win game for Arsenal and the players would surely need to step up their game if they are to get three points in Germany.
