Arsenal travel to Reading for their fourth round clash in the CapitalOne Cup. The Gunners thrashed Coventry City 6-1 at in the round before at the Emirates whereas Reading beat QPR 3-2 in five goal thriller. This will be Arsenal’s first match against Reading this season.
Arsenal just won against QPR on the weekend to move up to sixth in the league but Reading drew 3-3 against Fulham and still stay in the bottom three. A win for Arsenal would probably be enough to start a winning run as the Gunners face Manchester United next weekend. Arsène Wenger would probably put out a young side as he usually does in the league cup to give some rest to the first XI.
Probable starting XI
In goal Damain Martinez would take over Mannone to give the Italian rest. Martinez would look to impress on his chance and the Argentine is a huge future prospect for the Gunners.
In defence, Carl Jenkinson would take his place back in right back as Sagna came in for him on Saturday against QPR. Djourou and Miquel will partner in the central defence with Santos at left back.
In the middle of the park, Arshavin might get his chance to play behind the striker with Coquelin and probably Yennaris behind him. Arshavin showed glimpses of quality on Saturday, providing a vital cross for the goal.
Up front, Theo Walcott probably will start on the right with Giroud or Chamakh playing through the middle. On the left, Serge Gnabry would get a start after impressing coming on as a substitute.
