Latest on Arsenal transfers (RVP, Wal, Llorente, MVila, Giroud, Biglia, Denilson, Clint, Afellay)

Hello all,

More and more rumors are coming up with Arsenal being linked with many players around the globe and a post to quickly assess about the update on each of the players in news can come handy 🙂

So here is the current update on the players which the media feels are linked with Arsenal.

RVP: The biggest of them, today Ivan Gazidis said that he will decide the future only after EURO 2012.They are not putting any pressure and the chief has said that the initial talks have went good.

Walcott: According to Daily mail,
Arsenal will hold crunch talks with Theo Walcott after Euro 2012 as Arsene Wenger look to resolve the forward’s uncertain future.

Like Robin van Persie, Walcott’s contract expires at the end of next season meaning he could leave on a free transfer in 2013 and start negotiating with a foreign club at the turn of the year.

Chelsea are known to be monitoring Walcott’s situation and will be kept informed of how talks regarding his future develop.

Llorente: According to EspnStar,

As contract discussions with club captain Robin van Persie have stalled, manager Arsene Wenger has identified Llorente as a possible target to replace his top scorer should van Persie decide to leave the Emirates. However, a possible move for the striker would depend heavily on his current club’s willingness to sell, as the Gunners are not keen to meet Llorente’s buy-out clause of 28 million pounds

M’Vila: He was quoted saying,

‘My present at the moment is France, After the Euros we will see what happens with my future. There are many options open and I still don’t know what will happen.

‘We will have to talk about everything in a relaxed way but I don’t think my signing for another club will depend on what happens in the Euros.’

Giroud: talkSPORT are claiming that Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is keen to recruit the Ligue 1 joint top scorer(Giroud)

However, the report also claims the north Londoners could be drawn into a bidding war with the Spaniards, who are searching for a replacement for retired Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Montpellier would not be averse to such a situation, as Malaga were purchased by a member of the Qatari royal family two years ago and have considerable spending power.

There have also been reports of a possible swap deal involving Giroud and Arsenal flop Marouane Chamakh.

Giroud scored 21 league goals last season, firing Montpellier to their first ever French title and his form also won him a place in the Laurent Blanc’s Euro 2012 squad – any deal is unlikely to be completed until after the tournament in Poland and Ukraine.

Biglia: was quoted saying,

“Real Madrid and Arsenal have both been in contact,I am still under contract with Anderlecht until 2015 but they know that I plan to leave. If a club offers the right price, Anderlecht will let me go.”

Denilson: was quoted saying,

“There is the possibility of maybe signing a four or five-year contract,” Denilson told Estadao.

“My lawyer talked to Arsenal and they asked to wait to see what happens in the Brazilian Cup before talking again.

“Anything could happen. Sao Paulo are doing their best to keep me, but I prefer to focus on my work and think about that later.”

Clint Dempsey: was quoted saying,

“I am always going to want to play in Champions League.

“It is something I have never done. I would like to test myself at that level. That way I can look back and say, ‘Hey, I gave it a go. Either I was good enough or I wasn’t good enough”‘

“If I wanted to be comfortable, I would have stayed in the MLS [Major League Soccer], because I would have been closer to my family and friends, and I would have been used to the way of life.

“I am a risk-taker. I want to throw myself in the deep end and see if I can swim.”

Both Arsenal and Paris St Germain are said to be tracking the American.

Afellay : was quoted saying,

“That has been true since we(RVP and him) first played together. I felt the ‘click’. That’s what we call ‘football language,”

There has been talks that Wenger is interested in his services, and talks like these will only add fuel.

Hope it gives a fair idea of what is going on with the Arsenal Hit-List at the moment.I personally believe that Wenger will add 1 or 2 quality signings to the squad. Comments on who it mite be and on this post are invited.
