Spanish side Real Sociedad signed a four year deal with Mexican international Carlos Vela the team announced on its official website Tuesday, bringing an end to his seven year stay with Arsenal. The striker was on loan at Sociedad last season, making 35 appearances and scoring 12 goals to finish the campaign as top scorer for the Spanish side. Vela has found his first-team opportunities in the Premier League limited and the Gunners granted the forward permission to negotiate a move to La Liga.Vela has previously played on loan at Salamanca, Osasuna and West Brom after failing to nail down a place in the Arsenal first team since joining the club in 2005.
With the arrival of Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski it was going to be even more difficult for Vela in the Arsenal striking pecking order and having spent a year maturing at Real Sociedad a move back to the Basque club is a sensible one.In his 62 apprearances for us he has managed to score 11 goals where his appreance has mostly been off the bench or in carling cups.Vela has represented Mexico at every youth level, playing at the Under-17 and Under-20 World Cups, and was a part of the senior side for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. It was the U17 World Cup performance that really caught the eye of Arsenal and that led to getting the player.
Tough his appearances for us has been very minimal we will definelty miss his chips and a few of his moves and touches , sadly he couldnt make an impact to get into the first team. We can all wish him good luck for his future and hope he does very well .The tranfer is about 6 M or more with a buy back clause.
